Josep Puigmartí, the artistic genius who lives and works in Hotel Estela Barcelona - Art Hotel in Sitges for almost two decades, returns to China.

From Studio Puigmarti, we are pleased to inform about the new exhibition of Josep Puigmartí in China. 7 years have already passed since his artworks visited the eastern country.

This time the starting point will be the impressive China Millennium Monument Contemporary Art Museum of Beijing (Peking). This temple of art is considered the most important museum in China.

This is a traveling exhibition that will visit other museums in the country. It had organizational support from the Institut Ramon Llull and the Generalitat de Catalunya through its Department of Culture and its Councillor Mr. Ferran Mascarell. It also has the support of the Government of China.

The exhibition is entitled "The Story of the Eyes". The opening is scheduled for May 8th at 3.00 pm and it will remain open until June 2nd 2013.

This exhibition is part of the celebrations on the 40th anniversary of relations between China and Spain.

The fact is that in 2005/6, Puigmartí was, already, presented in several museums in China (Shanghai, Guangzhou, etc..) With unprecedented success. His exhibitions were visited by over 40,000 people, leaving a pleasant memory among art lovers in China. As a result of continued work and monitoring relationships with various entities in China, this second series of exhibitions has been achieved.

Since that first contact, we have received countless requests of individuals from eastern country asking or wondering when Puigmarti would return to those distant and beautiful lands. Well, all fans and collectors can once again enjoy Puigmartí's spontaneous gesture, with the added attraction that, this time, the exhibition also includes works from his latest series "Remaining" in which he recovers his famous erotic surrealism from the 70's but with a subtle blend of current gestures. We will also find some of his new sculptures, beautifully crafted.

This exhibition will not end here, since after this first museum there will come others. We will inform you promptly.

Puigmarti Decorates Eureka Flooring New Showroom

A few days ago it was opened the new Showroom of Eureka Flooring (maker of luxury parquet floors) in its operational headquarters located in Sant Sadurní, near Barcelona.

Josep Puigmartí , the artist who lives and works in the Hotel Estela Barcelona - Art Hotel in Sitges, captured his boundless creativity on the surface of the table, walls and parquet floors at the space of this prestigious firm. His paintings and sculptures are decorating the room. The access to the showroom also displays several paintings and a spectacular dummy completely painted by the master with his usual spontaneous and unpremeditated gesture. The same applies to the table that occupies the center of the room, painted by Puigmartí "in situ".

The interior design has been carried out by Ana Lopez. Both Ana and Puigmartí worked together to provide the space with a rare artistic personality in a warehouse.

Joan Ferrer, manager of the company, says that "the aim is to provide a unique environment for visitors and customers who wish to decorate their home with another unique product, the line of parquet floors Puigmartí Collection of Mediterranean Wood by Eureka".

The opening event was a success. Among the attendees, of course, there was a representation of "Hotel del Arte"

HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

Barely a year ago opened Termoparket - Tenuee, a new space with artworks by Josep Puigmartí in Avenida Diagonal, where luxury parquet flooring by Eureka Flooring and furniture by Tenuee interact with works by the genius from Sitges. This unique exhibition, had a fantastic response from the audience.

Eureka decided to create a special line of floors in full interaction with Puigmartí and his works. This new concept aims to offer its customers an exclusive product and, above all, personal. Just as our artist, Puigmartí, instantly decides what gesture should reflect in his new creation, the customer decides at each moment how has to be the parquet floor finish that he chooses to install in his room, home, company...

This line is marketed under the name of Puigmarti Collection by Mediterranian Wood, manufactured by Eureka. On the product logo appears Puigmarti's profile with roots (like a tree) that grow under his feet. This logo consolidates the fact that we speak about woodworking (roots) and offers a very personal artistic product (image of the artist).

In short, Puigmartí Collection places parquet floors at an artistic level. Since our company moves in the world of art, we are pleased with the direction of Eureka for this courageous decision to explore new concepts of marriage with the Arts, predicting great success in the future.

From Sitges to the Stars - Puigmarti has his own Asteroid in the Space - July 2012

JOSEP PUIGMARTI NOW HAS A PLACE IN SPACE

Pepe Manteca (Astronomer) gave the certificate issued by the Minor Planet Center (MPC) concerning the asteroid orbiting the space, with the name of "PUIGMARTI", with code number 252470. Pepe Manteca was the astronomer who has discovered this asteroid. He has made possible, after a long wait and many requests to the MPC from NASA, to name this asteroid as PUIGMARTI.

July 25th 2012, has been a very special day because Puigmartí held his 80th birthday and this occasion has been used to give him his own space in the sky. Josep Puigmartí has been working and researching for many years on the sky and the proof are his work as the "Big Bang Pearls" or "Alien Fashion".

This genius who lives on Earth, at the Art Hotel in Sitges, has been perpetuated forever in the sky, where time and space are eternal.

Francesc Castellví, patron of the artist, says: "It is a great day to remember forever. 25th July, 80 anniversary and officially entered in the sky. Puigmartí has been living for many years in the space, which is his inspiration and much of his creation was carried out in large series of paintings that belong now to this spatial reality. Fate has willed that we made this entry into space for Puigmartí. The world will recognize his great creative audacity as a pioneer to future astronomical events. "

In the words of his mentor, we all want that "the best thing about his past be the worst of his future."

Fundacion Jorge Alio Delivers the Awards "Miradas" - Old Fish Market, Alicante

A few days ago, the prizes of the biennial competition "Miradas" have been delivered. They are organized by the Fundacion Jorge Alió from Alicante. The event took place in the historic facilities of the old Fish Market of the city. Alicante City Council has offered the building for the event.

Let's not forget that this is an art competition organized by an organization (Fund. Alió) dedicated to research of eye diseases, for which reason it is doubly commendable work: in one side they seek to solve and cure the serious problem of the loss of vision, but in turn they promote events of cultural and artistic nature. We could say that in addition to ocular therapy, the institution from Alicante offers some spiritual healing through art. As we said, ...commendable.

This is the context in which they were given the aforementioned awards. The event was full of emotion. The artist from Alcoy, Ferran Gisbert, won first prize for his work "Temple", while, as we announced a few weeks ago, Josep Puigmartí won the award for the Best Artistic Career and Development.

The exhibition was espectalcular:

Another exhibition with the winning pieces in previous editions of this event was presented. In another room we could find exhibited forty artworks of the recently deceased artist Matt Lamb, creator of the umbrella campaign for peace, who maintained a close relationship with the Foundation Alió and who has given a giant mural to the city, to be installed in Las Cigarreras. While in the room where the inaugural press conference was held, we were able to observe large-scale works by Josep Puigmartí, the artist from Hotel Estela Barcelona - Art Hotel in Sitges, whose pictures showed one of the favorite icons of the surrealist genius, the eyes.

No doubt, from these lines, we congratulate the institution, its work, the good taste of their art department and, above all, we congratulate all the artists who give sustenance to our spirit.
